Spalding Gray performing his monologue "India and After" and interview with Theodore Shank. Spalding Gray was a well-known writer and actor and remains a subject of study and interest. He was especially known for his monologues, such as "India and After" (presented here). As he left actor groups in New York in 1980 to pursue his monologue work, this may be one of the earliest recordings of this specific work and one of the earliest recordings of him performing in California, which will be of value to those interested in Gray and his body of work.
